There was a tragic accident today at the ashram where I am now staying in Varanasi – a monkey died by electrocuting itself on a live wire. The monkeys often visit the ashram – they cause mayhem when they are there, but they are very entertaining too and I love watching and photographing them. It is very sad that one of them has died. It was upsetting for the monkeys too, who took his body away with them after it  happened and will apparently keep it with them until his body starts to decompose.
This photo was taken on a previous recent visit when the monkeys were fascinated with the flowers in the temple. It seemed a fitting picture after what happened today.

Yes, it took the death of a monkey to get me back on track with the posting. I’m glad I did and will try to keep it up as I have amassed quite a collection of photos!
I hated to hit “like” about a monkey dying but it is a very lovely post and a wonderful photo. Sad tho.
